What To Look For In A Vacuum Cleaner

Posted by John Gregory on Sat, Apr 30, 2011 @ 12:04 PM

Want to Make Sure You're Getting the Best Value?

Of course you do. Look - you'll be vacuuming your home for years to come. Shouldn't you get a vacuum that will last? Shouldn't you buy one that will save you money in the long run?

We think so. That's why we've assembled five tips for evaluating a vacuum purchase.

1. How Well Does it Clean?

All vacuums are not created equal. Does yours really get the dirt and dust out? Make sure to ask your salesperson just how well it gets the dirt out of your carpet, and the grunge off your floor.

2. How Easy is it to Use?

The vacuum you buy should be tailored to your needs. It should be easy to use for every task you need to accomplish.

For example, do you need to clean multiple types of surfaces? Or maybe you need to clean cobwebs off the ceiling? If so, make sure you get something flexible enough to adapt to every surface.

It's all about making sure a vacuum does what you need it to do.

3. How Long Will it Last?

You'll be vacuuming for years to come. Why throw away your money on a vacuum you'll have to replace in 18 months? Shouldn't you have a vacuum that's covered by a great warranty? One that will clean well for years?

Make sure to ask your salesperson how well a vacuum will be cleaning in a few years. If he's not sure, maybe you're not shopping at the right place.

Ask about the warranty, too. Is one available? Does the vacuum need to be shipped somewhere just to get repaired?

If so, maybe you should reconsider your purchase. We offer a great warranty on all of our products. We keep every part you can think of right here on hand, and we service all of our vacuums on the premises. That means you have less downtime and less cost. We'll even loan you one of our own vacuums until we have yours repaired and working like new!

Try to get that kind of service from a department store.

4. Does it Make The Air in Your Home Cleaner or Dirtier?

Air quality is a major health concern, especially in homes with children or senior citizens. And your vacuum could be contributing to the problem.

Make sure to ask your salesperson - "Does the dirt stay in the machine?" Listen for an answer that includes HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arrest) filters. These filters must pass a test that certifies them to remove 99.97% of potentially hazardous particles from the air. Without HEPA filters, you can't be sure how much dust your vacuum is just blowing back out into the air you breathe.

If your salesperson doesn't talk about HEPA filters, maybe you should get a second opinion.

5. Where Should You Purchase It?

No vacuum is indestructible. Make sure to buy yours from a shop that can service it and supply it with the parts you need, even years down the road.

That's the kind of service that we're proud to provide. We have our own experienced repair staff who will work on your vacuum right in our service department. We make sure they have all the parts and tools they need to get the job done right and in a timely manner.

We make sure to keep replacement parts for years down the line. All to make certain that no matter how long ago you bought your vacuum, we can make it run like new.

You won't get that from a "big box" store. That's the kind of service you'll only get from a dedicated local vacuum shop.

How To Choose A Carpet Cleaning Company

Posted by John Gregory on Mon, Apr 18, 2011 @ 23:04 PM

It's time to think about getting your home cleaned (your HOME - not just a house). You need the Carpets Cleaned, The upholstery Cleaned, The tile and grout cleaned.  There are a lot of cleaning companies available.  How do you choose the right one?  Are you just looking for the best price? Or do you want the best quality job at a fair price? In other words, the best value.  This is, after all, your home. It's important to you. It's not just the cleaning of the tile and grout and carpets. It's the whole experience that matters.

Look for a company that cares.  Try to find a company that can provide testimonials.

The following testimonials might be a good indication that the company cares:

"I was amazed at how the floors turned out.  I had been scrubbing them with bleach and a scrub brush on my hands and knees trying to make our grout and tile floor look good, but by the time I got from one side of the floor to the other, the area I started out would already be dirty.Your cleaning service made it look even better than I could make it with my scrubbing, and it stays clean longer and is easier to clean when I need to. I marvel

at how much nicer it looks every time I walk in, and how easy it is to keep beautiful.
Your team was great; professional, courteous and fast.
Overall a great experience." - Roberta Capital Vacuums Tile & Grout Cleaning Customer Rensselaer NY

"I appreciate your response time. David was very kind, efficient and did a great job!" - Kathy Capital Vacuums Carpet Cleaning Customer Albany NY

"Great products, great service and great employees. Everyone I have interacted with has been helpful, friendly and pleasant to work with. I recently had my carpets cleaned. The man who did the work was wonderful. He was friendly, professional and thorough. He worked hard to remove stubborn stains. He agreed my request to clean a couch even though it wasn't part of the original order. I would (and have) recommend Capital Vacuums to everyone." - Roxanne Capital Vacuums Carpet Cleaning Upholstery Cleaning Customer East Greenbush NY

100 % Sealed HEPA Vacuum -Too Much Filtration On Your Vacuum Cleaner?

Posted by John Gregory on Sun, Apr 10, 2011 @ 19:04 PM

Yesterday when demonstrating an Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner I couldn't believe the difference in Suction power when I put a Brand New HEPA filter on the back of the machine.  This lead me to think that too much Filtration is overkill and can defeat the purpose of vacuuming.

The purpose of vacuuming has always ben to take the dirt out of the carpet.  Of course it is a great idea to have good filtration on the vacuum to prevent putting the air back into the room. But if you have to mch filtration and it is effecting how much dirt you are taking out of the carpet, do we realy wan that much filtration? If the filters are allowing the dirt to stay in the carpet than  the dirt will just end up in the air anyway.

Yes, it is important to have good filtration in your vacuum but the most important thing the vacuum should do is PICK UP THE DIRT!

Clean Gives You Energy? Another reason for a good vacuum cleaner

Posted by John Gregory on Fri, Apr 1, 2011 @ 09:04 AM

I've been in the vacuum cleaner business and carpet cleaning business for the last 25+ years. I don't know why I didn't think of this or realize this sooner but lately I have been thinking that somehow a clean environment gives energy. Probably because ever since I started running I have been more aware of my surroundings what kind of energy exist. Maybe it's my imagination but I bet there is something to this.

I don't know how much research has been done on this but I'm going to find out if there is any truth to it. It's so easy to research anything today.

My first google search on this subject and here's an interesting article on smells giving off energy Scents to Give You a Boost

Check it out. Interesting Stuff.

We sell a variety of products that are placed in the vacuum cleaner so as the air goes thru the Vacuum a nice smell comes out the exhaust. Today I think I'll try something with a mint (as suggested in the article) scent to boost my energy.

Want more energy? Vacuum the house with the right scent.
